03/25/2014 - Congratulations to the Bears who earned awards! Another congratulations to Porter Peck who earned his Bear patch! Keep working on those requirements. Remember your Scout Leader isn't the only Akela. Your parents, teachers, religious leaders, etc., are all Akela and can help you sign off your Achievements and Electives. Be sure Travis or I are made aware of any Achievements or Electives you might have passed off with others so we can properly note it in our requirement spreadsheet. We will be holding our first auction on April 1, 2014. All Bears are encouraged to bring their Cub Bucks to bid on items supplied by the Bear Leaders. These items will not be high dollar items...most things will be less than $10. The items were not purchased using the Ward Cub Scout funds but purchased by the leaders themselves. The auction will take less than 15-20 minutes of which we will play a little basketball until the end of the meeting time. It was told to the Bear Scouts, if they lose their Cub Bucks that the Cub Bucks would not be replaced.
03/19/2014 (Caucus Mtgs held 03/18/2014) - Thank you to the Bears who participated in distributing the Scouting for food drive.

Bear Den - 3/4/2014 & 3/11/2014
03/4/2014 - First of all we finished up our Bear flag and hope to present it at the next Pack Meeting. We are looking for someone to sew the edges, if you know of someone please let us know. The boys learned how to tie a square knot and a bowline. We practiced trying to tie the bowline in 2-3 seconds. We still have some work to do. They learned how to whip the end of a rope and they learned how to coil and toss a rope of rescue about 20 ft. There are 2 more knots we need to teach the boys and we will learn a magic trick the next time we meet. Other than that we accomplished Achievement #22 "Tying it all up"
03/11/2014 - Most of the Scouts and their parents showed up at the Tooele City Police Station. We were welcomed by Sgt. Gowans who gave us a tour of the facility showing us the interview room, the evidence room, the stolen bikes cage, and we saw a car that was confiscated that was part of a fraudulent title case. We topped off the night with the boys talking about crime prevention in their homes and doing their fingerprints.
As per the letter read in Sacrament Mtg. we will not hold Scouts next Tuesday. If this changes we will be in contact with you.

Bear Den 02/18/2014 & 02/25/2014
02/18/2014 - This week we accomplished Achievement #21. We talked a bit about resourcefulness, built a model ferrari that we will sell in our auction next month, and started on our Den flag.
02/25/2014 - What a great Blue and Gold! Congratulations to all the boys and their awards. Just so that parents and boys are aware, there was a list provided for all the awards the boys had earned while with Travis and I but the Scout office was quite busy and the awards were scarce so we will catch them up next Pack Meeting. Thank you for your patience.
Next week we will try to finish up our Den flag and finish Achievement #22 Tying It All Up.
